In Greene County district court Benjamin Anthony Allen, 29, of Jefferson was sentenced Oct. 14 to 10 years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of theft- first degree. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years. He was fined $1,000 with a $300 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge. Allen was sentenced to five years in prison on one county of forgery. The prison term was suspended and he was placed on probation for two years, concurrent to the first probation. He was fined $750 with a $262.50 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay a $125 LEI surcharge on that charge. He must pay $10,725 restitution. Fifteen counts of forgery were dismissed.
In another case against Allen, he pleaded guilty to a charge of theft- third degree, amended from theft- second degree. He was fined $625 with a $218.75 surcharge; both were suspended. Trial dates were set for Dec. 10 in every case.
